What Makes a Golf Cart Faster?

Sure, there are times when you want a golf cart to slowly putter around the green. You're only going from one hole to the next, and you have no desire or need to make it speedy. There are other times, though, when you don't just want a golf cart- you want a fast golf cart! This occurs most often when you want your golf cart to be street legal. So, the question becomes, how do you do it? What makes a golf cart faster?

This question doesn't have a single answer. There are, in fact, several ways to make a golf cart faster. Let's look at a few of the most popular ways right now:

#1 Buy a new battery. If you have the type of golf cart that runs on a battery, this is a sure-fire way to make your golf cart go faster. To do so, first check your current battery(s). The voltage will be printed right on the batteries themselves. Purchasing new batteries with a higher voltage maximum will increase your golf cart's speed dramatically. A new battery will increase the motor output, which increases the speed.

#2 Upgrade your golf cart's motor. If you're feeling the need for speed, a new motor may be the way to go. This is a good option for people who's golf cart doesn't run on batteries, but gasoline powered instead. When you browse our online golf carts parts section of the website, you'll see that we have anything and everything you could possibly be looking for!

#3 Replace a few other components. The motor isn't the only thing that affects your golf cart's speed. Aside from the motor, there are also several components that you must consider when wanting to go faster. The Solenoid Contactor Relay and the Electronic Speed Controller are located between the motor and the battery bank. If these parts are not upgraded along with the motor, you run the risk of creating a "bottleneck" where you don't end up getting more speed from all that power.

#4 Make the cart lighter. The lighter something is, the faster it goes; the heavier it is, the more it slows down. Keep your golf cart clean and clutter free. As well, make sure there is not caked-on mud on the tires or anything else weighing it down. Mud, stones, rocks, and other grime can create a build up on the undercarriage of your golf cart and stop it from reaching the top speeds you're looking for.

This list is only the beginning! If you want to upgrade your golf cart, WilDar is here to help. In fact, we can help you create a totally custom golf cart that looks and drives exactly how you want. Yes, this includes going faster!
